"U.S. News and World Report" ranks Asian University to be in the list of the world's best universities.
"US News & World Report" announced the ranking of the world's best universities in 2019. Taiwan has 23 universities on the list; the Chinese Medical University and Asia University (AU) of the "China Asia Associated University System" both are on the list. Asia University has entered the list three times, ranked No. 1131 in the world, No. 18 in Taiwan, and No. 5 in the private schools, meaning that AU has received international recognition.
Prof. Huang Zhiyang, Director of Research and Development of AU, pointed out that the "US News and World Report" evaluation of the world's best universities focuses on the 13 indicators of research reputation, paper publication, special book, international cooperation, paper citation, Top 10% high-quality journal paper publication, and high cited paper. These indicators are in line with the goals of Asia University's founder Prof. Changhai Tsai and AU President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai in leading AU to transform and become a world-class university.
President Tsai said that AU, which was founded 18 years ago, has outstanding and stable performances in running university affairs. It has always been ranked in the top class of universities domestically and internationally. In the past five years, AU has been ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. In 2018, for example, in addition to entering the best university ranking list of "U.S. News and World Report," it also enters the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking list of "Top Millennia Universities of the World," being ranked the 31st in the world and the 1st in Taiwan. AU is also ranked by the THE to be one of the world's best universities within 50 years of its founding, being the 4th in Taiwan. In addition, AU is in the list of 1000 best universities of the 2018 World University Academic Ranking of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, being ranked No. 888 globally, the 14th in Taiwan, the 5th in private schools, and the 1st in non-medical private universities.
"To enter the list of 500 best universities in the world in 2021 is the goal of AU!" said President Tsai. AU focuses on teaching and research and has successively established academic research centers of big data, AI, fintech and blockchains, as well as 3D printing for medical R&D and semiconductors, which have enhanced the research capabilities of the teachers and students. In terms of internationalization, in addition to strengthening the recruitment of international students, AU also comprehensively promotes the international mobility of the teachers and students, with significant performances. Recently, it has also cooperated with Taiwan Artificial Intelligence School and Taiwan Microsoft Corporation to promote the general and cross-field learning of AI in the whole school, cultivating students' artificial intelligence application ability to face the AI era.
