Asia University Signs Historic MoU with India’s SRM Group to Expand Global Academic Collaboration

In partnership with SRM Group of Institutions, jointly establishing a new international collaboration platform for AI and engineering

Asia University has signed a university-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s prestigious SRM Group of Institutions, marking a major milestone in academic exchange, research collaboration, and international student development. The signing ceremony was hosted by Vice President Chun-Chieh Huang, with attendance from academic leaders including Dean Ching-Hsien Hsu and professors from multiple departments.

SRM: One of India’s Leading Private Universities

SRM Group is among India’s most influential private higher education networks, headquartered in Chennai. Its flagship campus, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), ranks among the world’s top institutions in engineering and technology according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject, and holds NAAC A++ accreditation, India’s highest quality rating. Other campuses include SRM University, Andhra Pradesh; Haryana; and Sikkim, forming a nationwide high-quality network. Currently, five exchange students from SRM are studying at Asia University, reflecting the practical implementation of this ongoing collaboration.

Collaboration and Exchange

SRM representatives included Chairman Dr. Shivakumar, Co-Chairman Dr. Niranjan, and Head of International Affairs Dr. Sanmugasundaam. Both sides discussed collaboration in artificial intelligence, information technology, big data, and interdisciplinary engineering research. Delegates toured Asia University’s Art Museum, expressing admiration for the university’s innovative research, smart healthcare initiatives, and vibrant campus culture.

Asia University also introduced its 2026 International Summer Program, offering courses in AI, machine learning, big data analytics, and IT applications, combining theory and practice. SRM confirmed its students would actively participate, promoting cross-cultural learning and stronger academic connections between the institutions.

Building a Global Academic Platform

The MoU lays the foundation for student exchanges, faculty collaboration, joint research, and international academic projects, integrating the strengths of both institutions to cultivate globally-minded talent and establish an internationally impactful research platform.
