Deepening Taiwan-Indonesia Academic Exchange: Asia University Hosts Grand Opening Ceremony for BINUS University Mandarin Chinese Study Program

First, Professor Dean Chen, I-Chi Vice Dean of International Affairs, delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of the university, warmly greeting the visiting faculty and students to AU and encouraging everyone to learn proactively and experience as much as possible during their stay in Taiwan. Following her remarks, Director Mao, Yuen-Jean led the audience in reviewing highlight videos from last year's study program, livening up the atmosphere with heartwarming memories while wishing all participants smooth learning and great fun over the upcoming two weeks.

In addition, Professor Chair Ta-Shun Cho, Vice Chair of the Department of Business Administration, and Professor Ya-Ping Hu of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems made a special appearance. Having visited BINUS University's Medan Campus last year to discuss dual-degree and exchange student programs with Professor Hsueh-Ying Lin of BINUS University's Department of Chinese Language—who is leading the visiting delegation this time—Professor Cho warmly welcomed the BINUS delegation as an old friend, highlighting the deep cross-border friendship and strong collaborative partnership between the two universities.

In the second half of the event, instructor Chung-Yi Yang provided participants with a detailed overview of the program's curriculum and itinerary, which encompasses practical Mandarin instruction, local hands-on cultural experiences, and field trips. Towards the end of the ceremony, a meaningful gift exchange took place, symbolizing everlasting friendship between the two institutions. Dr. Lin, Chun-Wei expressed his hope that the participating Indonesian students would not only enjoy learning Chinese, but also gain a deeper appreciation of Taiwan as a treasure island, ideally returning to AU in the future as exchange students or to pursue a degree. Finally, the ceremony drew to a successful close with a warm group photo featuring all honored guests and students, officially launching this enriching Mandarin study program.
