Asia University (AU) hosted the International Symposium on AI and Cyber Security Research and Innovations (AISRI 2026), bringing together researchers, students and industry professionals from around the world to exchange the latest research developments and practical applications in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Asia University President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai attended the symposium and joined international scholars and participants in the academic exchange.

AISRI 2026 is organized by Asia University’s International Center for AI and Cyber Security Research and Innovations (CCRI). The symposium is led by Brij B. Gupta, Founder and Conference Chair of AISRI, Director of CCRI and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. The two-day symposium, held on September 18–19, was conducted in a hybrid format and attracted more than 100 participants representing 15 countries.

In his remarks, President Tsai welcomed the international participants and highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in today’s rapidly changing technological environment. He also emphasized Asia University’s continued development and its commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration, creating more opportunities for researchers and students to engage with partners around the world.

In his opening presentation, Prof. Brij B. Gupta highlighted the international response to AISRI 2026. The symposium received 97 paper submissions from more than 10 countries. Following the peer-review process, 35 papers were selected, including 30 regular papers, three short papers and two poster papers. The strong international participation reflects AISRI’s role as a platform for researchers from different countries and disciplines to exchange ideas on the development of secure, trustworthy and practically useful AI technologies.

Papers accepted and presented at AISRI 2026 are planned for publication in Scopus Index Proceedings. This publication pathway further reflects the symposium’s emphasis on research quality, international visibility and the wider dissemination of academic outcomes.

The symposium featured three keynote talks, two invited talks and six technical sessions. The September 18 keynote speakers included Vijayan Sugumaran of Oakland University, USA; Abhay Ratnaparkhi of eBay, USA; and Kwok Tai Chui of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong. Their expertise spans intelligent systems and data analytics, enterprise AI infrastructure, cybersecurity and smart-city technologies.

The September 19 program includes invited talks by Agung Mulyo Widodo of Esa Unggul University, Indonesia, and Mosiur Rahaman of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand, further extending the symposium’s international academic exchange.

The six technical sessions demonstrated the breadth of current research in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Topics included human–AI collaboration, privacy-aware systems, phishing detection, zero-day intrusion detection, resilient healthcare AI, smart microgrid security, post-quantum security, prompt-injection detection, Linux threat monitoring, mobile application security, AI-generated image detection, agentic AI governance, smart-home authentication and explainable intrusion detection for medical IoT networks.

Other studies explored the application of AI to a wider range of societal and engineering challenges, including pregnancy-risk monitoring, air-quality monitoring, Alzheimer’s disease detection, financial forecasting, privacy-preserving healthcare technologies, and the use of knowledge graphs with retrieval-augmented generation for engineering and industrial applications. Together, the sessions highlighted the growing convergence of AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, IoT and intelligent systems.

During the symposium, President Tsai joined participating professors, researchers and students for a group photo session. A Book of Abstracts, presenting the research contributions included in AISRI 2026, was presented to President Tsai, Dean Prof. Hsu, and other professors attending the symposium, marking the occasion and sharing the academic outcomes of the event.

Following the in-person technical sessions, Certificates of Presentation were presented to participating authors in recognition of their research contributions and academic participation. The presentations and discussions also provided researchers and students with opportunities to exchange ideas directly, receive feedback and establish connections for future academic collaboration.

Through AISRI 2026, Asia University continues to strengthen its international research network in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity while providing a platform that connects academic research, emerging technologies and practical applications. The symposium also reflects the University’s continuing efforts to promote interdisciplinary research and international academic exchange in fields that are increasingly important to the development of secure, trustworthy and sustainable digital societies.
