Asia University (AU) held a welcome party for IC Design exchange students from Vietnam’s FPT University on the evening of September 22 at BBQ Area A, Building I. Combining student club performances, a barbecue, and karaoke, the event offered students an opportunity to experience campus life in Taiwan, connect with teachers and fellow students, and celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
In his welcome remarks, AU President Jeffrey Tsai noted that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a cherished tradition in both Taiwan and Vietnam. Although the two places celebrate in different ways, both value the joy of gathering and sharing. He expressed his hope that the barbecue and music would help students feel the warmth of the AU community while studying far from home.
President Tsai encouraged students to make the most of their exchange by exploring IC design, asking questions, sharing ideas, and learning from one another. He emphasized that studying abroad offers opportunities not only to gain knowledge, but also to experience different cultures and build friendships. He hoped students would return home with greater confidence, professional knowledge, and wonderful memories, with their friendships serving as lasting connections between the two universities and between Taiwan and Vietnam.
The evening opened with performances by AU’s BlackBuBu Dance Crew and Guitar Club, followed by a barbecue and karaoke. Through food and music, faculty members and students had an opportunity to get to know one another beyond the classroom. The informal setting encouraged conversation and helped exchange students feel more connected to campus life.
The Mid-Autumn Festival also provided a shared starting point for cultural exchange. By introducing students to the popular Taiwanese tradition of celebrating with a barbecue, the event allowed them to explore a different way of observing a familiar festival while experiencing the support and hospitality of their host university.
Asia University and FPT University continue to collaborate on semiconductor talent development. This semester, FPT students are undertaking a semester-long program at AU covering IC design, semiconductor fabrication processes, and related practical training. Complementing these academic experiences, the welcome party brought students together through campus life and cultural exchange, creating shared memories and strengthening ties between the two university communities.
