Asia University (AU) has achieved another milestone in its international strategic change to development! On May 11, 2026, a distinguished delegation from Khon Kaen University (KKU)—a top-tier research institution with excellence in global sustainable development impact, ranked 97th globally in the "THE World University Impact Rankings" and consistently among the top three in Thailand—was personally led by its President, Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, for a visit to Asia University.

The main purpose of this visit was to deepen substantive academic exchanges between the two universities. Both parties engaged in final-stage key discussions regarding the "1+1 Master's Dual Degree Program" Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) promoted by the College of Information and Electrical Engineering and the College of Management. To ensure the precise alignment of cooperation details, the President of Khon Kaen University specifically conducted in-depth visits to the Asia University Hospital and the Semiconductor Research Center. Through visits to AU’s key research and teaching facilities in smart healthcare and semiconductors, both universities established a solid foundation for their strategic objective of jointly nurturing global talent in technology and management.

Smart Healthcare Practice: Observing AU Hospital’s Rehabilitation Robots and Advanced Imaging Equipment

The delegation’s first stop was a visit to the Asia University Hospital. Led by Administrative Vice Superintendent Li-Wei Chou, the guests personally learned about the precision diagnostic functions of the DXA 5000 advanced imaging equipment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. After it, they proceeded to the Department of Rehabilitation, where the medical team provided a live demonstration of the "Rehabilitation Robot." President Panthongviriyakul, who holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, highly praised AU's specific achievements in integrating AI automation technology into clinical rehabilitation, considering it a model for smart hospital transformation.

High-Level Dialogue: Presidents Exchange Gifts to Symbolize Close Friendship

Following the site visits, an official symposium was held in Meeting Room A502 of the Administration Building. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing AU's vision for interdisciplinary integration. President Panthongviriyakul expressed his gratitude for AU's hospitality and academic vitality. The highlight of the symposium was the gift exchange ceremony; both presidents presented commemorative gifts representing their respective university cultures, symbolizing a step forward in their international academic strategic partnership.

Industry-Academic Linkage: Vice President Chun-Chieh Huang and Dean Hsu Jointly Guide Semiconductor Energy

During the technical visit, the delegation showed a keen interest in forward-looking semiconductor technologies. The session was led by Vice President Chun-Chieh Huang and Dean of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, Dr. Ching-Hsien Hsu, who first provided a specialized briefing. Dean Hsu detailed the college's research strengths and the current operation of the "Logic and Computation Lab" in collaboration with the global chip leader AMD, letting the delegation understand how AU's IC design field aligns with top international industries.

Subsequently, Vice President Huang personally led the delegation into the Semiconductor Research Center. Under Vice President Huang's professional explanation, President Panthongviriyakul and his team inspected the center's precision configurations, including advanced process instruments such as Sputtering systems, Evaporation Systems, and Thermal Processing Equipment.

Conclusion: A New Chapter in International Academic Cooperation

Through this exchange, the two universities reached a consensus on substantive cooperation, not only regarding the Master's dual degree cooperation in Management and Industrial Engineering but also through the deep interaction in smart healthcare and semiconductor teaching and research. This visit not only consolidated the friendship between Asia University and Khon Kaen University, Thailand, but also once again showcased Asia University's international reputation as an AI smart campus.
